First post so be gentle.

I hope this is the correct forum. If not please feel free to move it as appropriate.
Problem description. I get my Windows Updates from the Windows Update Catalog site rather than the "normal" Windows Update site. Automatic Update is OFF. I download the selected updates, then install from the downloaded executable file then store the executable files on my external HDD.
Yesterday, I went to download KB972260. After selecting the download folder, I clicked the "continue button and got a failure to download. Error 800A01C2 was cited (see attachment). Googled that and found it refers to a VBScript runtime error. This is an area in computing where I have zero knowledge or even a clue. So I Googled VBScript and came up with this forum. I didn't know it was such a specialized subject that it would have a forum dedicated to it, but I hope to learn about VBScript here. So I'm here to learn what I can and hopefully solve the little problem I have with the Update Catalog site.
BTW... Normal Windows Update works normally. I tried the M$ Diagnostic Tool and it can't seem to differentiate between Windows Update and Windows Update Catalog. No real surprise there.
My machine is a Dell Inspiron 1501 Laptop with an AMD Turion 64 processor, 2GB of DDR RAM and a 120Gb HDD, running XP Home 2002, SP3 with all updates (except KB972260). When I'm not using it as a portable unit, it hooked up to an external monitor and wireless keyboard and mouse. Also have a USB external HDD where I keep my Acronis True Image backups. Speaking of which... When I restore the original full backup image, the Update Catalog site works just fine. When I restore the first incremental image,(created 8 days later) it doesn't, I've picked through both installations and cannot find anything different. But then, I don't really know what to be looking for in relation to VBScript (IF that is the problem)
Thanks in advance for any insight and/or referral to sites where I can learn a bit more about VBScript.
