Start computer through keyinput?

Hi everyone, I've been trying to find out how to start my computer by writing a password on my keyboard (and disabling the powerbutton). I don't know if the computer is physically shutted down before I write my "password", how could it registry the keyinput if its "dead"? It could be some sort of fake. Like; you'll be redirected to the "cmd" when the computer is "shutted down" and from there you write a password. I know I'ts possible to do it, my friend had it once. Ideas/suggestions/"revelations"? Thanks in advance. (I'm sorry if im writing in the wrong forum.)

I don't think it is possible to start a completely powered down computer from the keyboard. The only possiblity that I could think of would be a UPS that monitors the keyboard and sends a wake-on-lan signal when a certain series of keys is pressed. I've never heard of such a thing but it is the only way that I can conceive of it.
