I am trying to write an autorun script for a CD that requires current versions of Quicktime, Acrobat Reader, etc. Some client machines will be Win98 and may not have WMI installed. All the solutions I have tried for interrogating the registry to determine software versions seem to use classes provided by WMI. What other means are available in VBscript for reliably accessing software version information on all versions of windows? I have even considered a hidden install of WMI on the Win98 machines but would still need a reliable method for determining that it is not already present. This must be a common problem for multi-media developers but there is surprisingly little information available on the net!

Thanks in advance for any feedback.
