I get lists of employees in multiple formats, ie. last name, first name or last name in one column and then first name in the 2nd column. I am constantly trying to reconcile different lists also in excel and I am looking for a macro that will strip out the first name and the mi from a "lastname, firstname mi" type listing and move the data to the next column over, dropping the comma altogether. I tried playing with the macro recorder, not a good move. I am very new to scripting, tho I am attempting to teach myself as I go and I would be very appreciative of any help.

Thanks,

If this is in excel, just select the column that you want to seperate, click on data, click on text to columns, choose delimited and select comma. This will take column 1 (Last, First, Mi) and seperate it into 3 columns. Make sure to have the 2nd and 3rd columns empty as it would overwrite what is already there.

If this is in a text file just rename it to CSV and open in excel.

Thank you very much. That worked like a charm.
