I am trying to develop prevention of users *.pst files from getting too big and thus possibly corrupting. I found a tool called "PSTSize", but it doesn't seem to work.

Since all of the relevant users have their pst files in the same directory, I wanted to see if you could make a vbs script that could detect the file size of any pst file in a given directory.

After that point I will call a shell command to send a "postie" email to the helpdesk.

If anyone could help with this I would be very appreciative.

Thanks,

Xploit

Try something like this:

Don't forget to change:
  • the email address from
  • the email address to
  • the name of the smtp server
  • the computername (strComputer)
  • the foldername
  • the filesize

I know in your post you stated that all of your users had their PST files in the same location. Unless you have a controlled environment where they cannot have these files any other place, you may find that they have them in other locations too. If there is any possibliity of this you may want to consider a script like this one http://www.microsoft.com/technet/scriptcenter/resources/qanda/oct04/hey1014.mspx.
Change the MP3 to PST and enumerate your list from there.

Just a thought, because I know I have found that my users put things in unusual places sometimes.
