I had already found this info. I should have been more specific.

The problem I am having is the error message Cannot Creat Oblect "MSCommLib.MSComm"

I have installed the NETCommOCX. Do I need to change the vbs code to call the NETComm as I do not have MSCommLib?

I got it working.

The Code Change is
Set com = CreateObject ("NETCommOCX.NETComm")

this will create an object that you can make calls to. I haven't tested the "MSCommEvent" part yet

it is possible to open a com port in vbscript just like an ordinary file. Just use comport name as the file name.
