heh.. You didn't mention that cacls won't turn off permission inheritance, I thought you have EVERYTHING already in place and you just wanted to convert the batch script to vbs.

If you can't get xcacls to work and still interested in doing it using pure vbs, let me know =)

I finally got everything working.. had to call a batch file to get XCACLS.VBS to work cleanly. Its not pretty, but it gets the job done. Thanks for your help!

Why do you need to call a bat from a script? What happens when you call the script from your script?

Well, at the time I didn't know how to stop Shell.Run from going on to the next line without waiting for the command to finish processing... I know how to do it now, and I'll probably change it when I have time!

I use it for creating new folders and assigning rights to them as well as creating printers for this project we have here.

If you remember I was working on a project where we are getting rid of novell printers and moving to Win32 print servers. So we put groups of users in specific Groups and assign and ACL printers to them based on their location.
