My job has implemented a new system for managing our databases..... Its an Oracle/Java Server that has been installed on all our Client machines. (Running Windows 2000. Oh Why God? ). The speed of this system (Obviously) Is EXTREMELY slow for even the simplest tasks. I've been trying to create some new client side tools to help myself and coworkers use this system faster and easier. The problem is....I can't even find the Databases in this thing!!!!! To run the program, you click on a shortcut that loads into a generic server IP address (This is on the client machine believe it or not) So my question is. Has anyone ever been exposed to a system like this? Generally speaking, how would to connect to a "database"(which I can't find files for) thats running through a server installed locally on a client machine?!
