Hello all,

I just have a simple question about the relationship between the Windows Scripting Host and WMI:

If I have a centralized "management " server running VBScripts that execute queries against WMI classes/objects on other systems, can I disable WSH on those remote servers and still have the scripts on the central server run?

I have a strong suspicion that WSH is only needed on the central server in my example above.  Can somebody confirm this for me?

Thanks so much,

Jon

I haven't tried this, but I would say yes you should be able to disable WSH, and the scripts will still run. I'm not sure how you will accomplish this (remove WSCRIPT.EXE or CSCRIPT.EXE). But if the script running on the management machine can access WMI on the remote machine it should be fine.

i would test this first on a test box if you have one, i would have to agree with you regarding not needing it unless you actually run the scripts locally

how to disable wsh:
