Have someone send an email to that account and see if they get an Out of Office reply... Sorry, left that one open.

ORIGINAL: crazymatt I didnt find any regsetting that shows it, i used sysinternals regmon.exe but notting showed up there when i switched between out of office and in office. So maybe its a setting in the exchange server or in some file? It feels like a exchange feature becuase at least for me it works even if i dont have my local outlook open once activated. Yeah, I tried something like this and didn't see anything in the reg or any files changed. quote:

OK, jokes aside here. Are you looking on the computer in question, or on the Mail Server for this setting? I believe the setting resides on the Mail Server itself. If you are not using an Exchange Server e-mail account, then you do not have the option to use the "Out of Office Assistant", so I'm assuming that the setting will be located on the Mail Server. I haven't ever looked for this, and I'm not sure I'll have a chance to look at it when I get to work tomorrow or not, been pretty busy here lately... (I guess that's a good thing)

I am looking from the PC not the exchange server, and yeah it is stored in exchange. I was just hoping there was something local that showed it was on, or if it was possible to hit the exchange server to see. I doubt there is a way, but a little background on the why.. Recently we implemented a spam program called Advanced Spam Defense that sits on the internet side of the exchange and all email gets routed through it. There, if it is suspected of being spam, it gets put into a personal quarantine for each user. There are 2 ways to manage this, 1) via a web page, or 2) via an Outlook plug in. The plug in, if enabled, connects to the personal quarantine and downloads all spam to the inbox and via a rule to the junk mail folder. It checks the personal quarantine every 15 min or when outlook is opened. The latter is where the problem occures. When out of office is turned on, every email gets a response, except for those to the internet. By default this is turned off in Exchange. But for some ****ic reason the powers that be decided to turn this on, all because 1 citizen didn't get a response from someone who no longer worked here. So, instead of monitoring former employees mailboxes for a period of time after they leave, they turned this all or nothing feature on. So, if I could find a way to determine if Out of Office was turned on via a login script, then I can turn off the download spam feature of the plug-in. I am also fighting to get the Out of Office to the internet turned off, but we will see how that goes.
