I'm new here and I ask forgiveness if this isn't where this belongs but I want to relay to you a story of the failures of me and my partner Stacy.  We have two people in our departement for the whole state and 7 buildings to support.  We are frequently not at our desks.

We had this great idea.  We had developed a Network Services Intranet recently and thought that it would be a great idea to integrate our scripts into the site.  The idea was to use ASP Webpages to collect the data which would then be dropped into scripts which would do the work and reply back into ASP or SMTP e-mail.

The problem is security.  ASP can't do a WMI GetObject command.  We tried using SWBEM locator to start a process on a second computer with Administrator access and then launching the script from there but that didn't work either.  Somehow (and we're not sure how) it still knew that it was being launched by ASP.  I then tried to use DCOM to launch it and that didn't work either.  It seems like if we were trying to get information locally from the webserver we were successful but we couldn't get it from the network PCs.

For three days we wrestled with this.  We were thwarted at every turn.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to integrate ASP, VBScript and WMI into a corporate website with one cohesive 'feel'?

i dont know how to do this with asp,

once i installed an xampp (apache webserver) and i let it run on a useraccount which has enough rights in the whole domain, then i found out how to make php call local vbscript.
with that the user had the chance to start a copy process with rights he didn't have. and that everywhere in the net...

maybe you could run your webserver under a useraccount with enough rights? (i mean the iis service in the control panel, change it to your user, maybe as a test)

...
