Don't know if this is possible, but can you lock down or remove the volume contol in the XP control panel? My 5 year old son has autism, and he LOVES to turn the speakers up to their maximum volume. I have 2 XP machines and was able to sucessfully rename and disable MMSYS.CPL on one machine, but not the other. I can't put him on a non-admin account because we're always adding new programs and stuff.

Did you try to minmize the toolbar? like make it smaller so you can't see it. sndvol32.exe is the program file for volume control. if you remove that, but do it with cautiona and make sure you have a backup, he cannot open volume control, because it won't be there.

He knows how to go into control panel, so it doesn't have to be on the toolbar. I'm going to see if I can rename sndvol32.exe. I expect I'll have to back it up and delete it because XP seems to want to put this type of file back if it is removed.
