Can a VBS script be called from a shell script? like so


#!/bin/sh
SCRIPT_HOME=D:/folder
$SCRIPT_HOME/test.vbs

My set-up is tricky, and I dont know what happens as its a Windows  server aith some kind of vitual unix running and i cant run the script manually or see what happens

You cannot execute a VBScript from within a Linux environment. You cannot execute a bash from within a windows environment.

Or Python, Bash, PHP, etc. That is one of the things that I like about scripting/programming. There are lots of ways to do something.

Then I shouldn't be able to do this in Windows.

dd.exe if=/dev/random bs=1 count=8 2>stderr.bin > binfile.bin

But I do.

You do it in native windows? Or are you using an emulator like cygwin?

or are you using a dd.exe that has been ported over to run on win32?

Perl may already be installed on the Linux/UNIX boxen ;-)

you are correct that Perl may be installed already. I can assure you that Bash or some similar shell is.
