Sometimes, when I try to use some ActiveX Components = COM Objects, from inside a VBS script, I get this error message:

{
Microsoft (R) Windows Script Host Version 5.6
Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation 1996-2001. All rights reserved.

(null): Catastrophic failure

Exit code: 0 , 0000h
}

What does it mean?
What are its causes? (Why does it happens?)
How to solve/correct this?

Thanks.

Best regards.

It would be good to see the code so we can look at where it is having the problem, post the script.

Please, download my rar file at:

http://tinyurl.com/yvfrwr

Inside such rar file you can find:
my Test.vbs (the one which gives the «(null): Catastrophic failure» error message);
the original ActiveX = COM (afiost.ocx) + original manual and samples

If you need to upload anything that is not "postable" at this forum (such as new zip/rar/exe file for example), please upload it at:

Thank you!

Best regards!

I think Jim provided you a good explanation on scriptinganswers.com  and looking at the description of what this .ocx file lets you do, you should be able to do all those things with VBScript without it.
