Hi Need a way of checking folder permissions on a certain folder.  Ie i need to know if the user can write to a folder if they can then copy a file if not then display a msg.  I need to be able to do this in the background with no user interaction except to display a msgbox saying its not possible.

Any suggestions or comments?

You can use cacls.exe, xcacls.exe, or xcacls.vbs...you should be able to find examples on how to use any of these...there really isn't a simple and easy way to do this with VBScript.
