The simplest way would be to simply write a VBScript that shells out to Regedit to export the registry to a text file. Then if you want to be a little more fancy you could zip the exported text file up to save some disk space. All of these activities have been discussed before if you just search around a little.

I did this my simply calling the regedit via WScript Shell. But I want to back this up to the users My Documents Folder. But everytime  I try to do this it gets the correct enviroment but it says disk or files sytem error. It will allow me to save it to say the root of C drive.

How do I get it to write to the MyDocuments folder?

Look at the WSH documentation for the ExpandEnvrinmentStrings method.
