When was the last time Outlook allowed this without user intervention? I haven't been able to do anything like this in years due to security patches in Outlook. Why not use CDO, or bmail?

Ugh, bmail. bmail is extremely buggy and unreliable. If you only use it on one or two servers once or twice a day, no biggie, but when you try running it on about 600+ servers, 5 time s day, you find that it starts to accumulate errors like the first beta version of Windows ME. If you are going to use something other than CDO, use a straight telnet connection to the mail server on port 25. That's all smtp is anyways...

I agree bmail is not the best, but based on the description of what the OP is trying to do it should be minimal usage and adequate. The old days of only having 600 servers to worry about
