I am new to VB scripting so this is probably a very simple question - apologies if this is  too simple.

We have an existing procedure that dumps a few lines of text to .txt file. We want to be able to read a specific part of this text file. For example we would like to find out what the 8th to the 16th characters are on the 12th line and dump them somewhere else (maybe another text file) to be used by another program later. How do I do this using VBscripting? Sorry if this isn't very challenging
