Tooo funny!!!!! I'm not a programmer, but I script quite a bit to simplify my life and that of my team members....they, co-workers, always joke about explaining things to me with If...Then statements or WScript.Echo....luckily nothing close to scripting has come out of my mouth when talking about normal things.....yet

Well, not so much something like that but I think I've been working in IT so long that I've started to work out everything using "decision trees". This works well enough for things like "How can I fix this television?". However, when dealing with people it is fatally flawed. You know the sort of thing. Your wife says "I don't know whether I should tell my friend she has upset me". Me: "Aha! I say, you need a decision tree!" Her: "What?" Me: "Well, at the moment you have two choices. Tell her or don't tell her. Let's take the the TELL HER option shall we? From there we get two possible branches. A) She understands B) She gets angry with you. From each of those we get further branches and....what?" Her: "You don't understand women at all do you??! *sobs*" Me: "???"

ORIGINAL: ginolard Her: "You don't understand women at all do you??! *sobs*" Me: "???" Pfft. n00b. Obviously, you still have testes. [...] Her: "You don't understand women at all do you??! *sobs*" Me: "You're right baby, I don't understand. All I know is that it kills me to see you so upset over this. Is there anything that I can do to help? I mena, I'll probably make it worse, just being a guy, but if you think I can help, I want to try." Her: "*sniffle* No... no..., that's ok. I've got to talk to her myself. But thanks for listening." Me: "Well, just let me know. I may be just a guy, but I do care! *grin*" Her: *goes away mollified* Me: *goes back to watching CSI/Ghost Hunters* After 18 years of marriage, I don't CARE if I sound like a whipped girlie-man. Just as long as I get to watch my tv in peace and quiet after a hard day's work. I'm willing to sacrifice the whole "I have to be manly" thing for the 60 seconds it takes to get out of that conversation and back to my show. Hell. To avoid a conversation/crises like that, I'll pee sitting down for the next few weeks - "to better understand you and what you have to go through, dear".
