Is it possible to do this with VBScript? I have been looking around but it looks to me as though you need a 3rd party .dll.

I just need to know if I can do this and a couple of pointers would be helpful.

Windows Firewall uses the sharedaccess service.  you can just start this services if it is disabled.

The problem is that doing it that way requires a reboot or additional effort before the firewall is actually ON.
Better and easier to use netsh.
