Hello everybody!

I have a small vbscript which has some MsgBoxes and InputBoxes for User Dialog.
My problem is now, that every time such a Box opens, the system speaker will
produce a loud beep. Is there any way to disable the system speaker while having
that script active?

Thanks in advance+

What have you tried so far?

Have a Look at mediaplayer activex control or MSWebDVD control. Both have methods for controlling volume.

Set objPlayer = CreateObject("WMPlayer.OCX.7" )

OR

Set dx=CreateObject("MSWebDVD.MSWebDVD.1")

I tried nothing so far, because I had no clue what to do ;-)
Thank you for your hint, I will try that!
BUt I have to say that Im not that optimistic since
I need to address the system speaker, not the standard speakers....

Do you have or can you install sound card drivers? ie sound card drivers trumps system board speaker and then you just mute or turn down the volume.

option 2 stick some bluetack over the piezo to mute it

Wow that's a little invasive.....

I prefer... Open device manager. Click VIEW. Show hidden devices. Open "Non plug and play devices". View the properties of 'Beep'. On the Driver tab set the Startup type to 'Disabled' and press 'Stop'.

This is for the actual system speaker only. OR you can simply use NET [STOP|START] BEEP.

OR here's an example for the regular sound card.

I thought the beep was at bios level and not controllable by windows but you learn something everyday, thanks.
