primary key incrementation pls help..

i have a table "customer" and have a field of "ID"(primary key) with a value of RESP-000001 and i want it to increment it as RESP-000002 when i add a second record what specific format should i use?? please help me.. it consume me a lot of time,,

I'm pretty sure you'll have to INSERT it manually. Try Inserting the Count of the table concatenated with your string:
